ABOUT

More than a label.
Always about people.

A decade of independent sounds, unexpected connections, and the stories that made them possible.

INDEPENDENT BY NATURE
EST. 2016 / 2017 ~ STILL LISTENING
01 / THE BEGINNING

It started
with a camera.

Before Pueblo Vista was an artist, a record label, or even a name associated with music, it was a little YouTube channel documenting everyday adventures. Around 2012–2013, Paul and Verena began filming their travels and hikes ~ an idea sparked, in part, by a playful conversation after watching friends’ holiday footage.

Finding the right music for those videos was another story. Copyright restrictions made everything complicated. The thought was simple: what if the music could come from a place we built ourselves?

That curiosity led to instrumental beats, a growing fascination with lo-fi and chillhop, and eventually the first independent releases. It would still take Paul another two or three years to write his first track.

02 / THE NAME

P for Paul.
V for Verena.

Pueblo Vista began as something personal, shaped by two people who loved making things together. Its name carries their initials ~ P for Paul, V for Verena ~ and a loosely imagined world of people, places and views. It was never meant to be perfect Spanish. It was meant to feel like theirs. Later, pvmm. ~ Pueblo Vista Music & Multimedia ~ became the distinct name of the label, while Pueblo Vista remained Paul's artist identity.

Verena was never the public face of the label, but her encouragement, patience and belief in the project were part of its foundation. Without her, Pueblo Vista would not have become what it did. When she passed away in April 2023, the life surrounding the music changed forever. Her place in this story remains.

03 / FINDING EACH OTHER

Then the music
found its people.

At first, Paul was the one searching for music. Then something changed: artists began reaching out. A message on SoundCloud. A demo in an inbox. Someone on the other side of the world asking if Pueblo Vista could release their song.

The label grew through conversations rather than corporate introductions. There was no anonymous team behind the curtain. It was often just: “Hey, this is Paul from Pueblo Vista.”

Over time, those messages became collaborations, friendships and a catalogue of independent music. For a few extraordinary years, lo-fi and instrumental beats reached listeners on a remarkable scale. But the streams were never the whole story. The people were.

THE MOVEMENT

What began as a search for music became a place for musicians to find each other.

04 / THROUGH IT ALL

Life happened.
Music stayed.

Like everything made by people, the label moved with life. Family, work, moves, loss and the simple reality of having only so many hours in a day changed its rhythm. Some years were full of releases; others were quieter.

After Verena’s death, Paul’s priorities and everyday life changed profoundly. Music remained ~ sometimes not as a business or a plan, but as a way to stay grounded and keep creating.

The point was never to recreate a particular year, chase a streaming milestone, or pretend that nothing had changed. The work had already meant something. It still does.

05 / WHAT REMAINS

Not a comeback.
A place to remember.

This new home for pvmm. is not an attempt to rewind the clock. It is a living archive ~ a place for years of releases, mixtapes, voices and creative connections to remain discoverable beyond a feed, a playlist, or a forgotten message.

Behind the catalogue are thousands of songs and countless exchanges with artists around the world. Preserving them matters. For the people who trusted their music to Pueblo Vista, for anyone hearing it for the first time, and for the next generation who might one day wonder what all of this was about.

A special nod to Jason, who spent years insisting that Pueblo Vista (the artist) and pvmm. (the label) deserved separate homes. You were right, my friend.
